The mighty class of 65' opened their hearts and donated $5,800 to the ALS Association DC/VA/MD Chapter in honor of Judy Gordon, our Queen Hornet for Life. Judy has acted as our scribe, organizer and tireless supporter since we graduated from high school and only through Judy’s efforts have we all stayed in touch and come together every five years.
Marge Alvaro Richardson covertly ran the fund raising project from her home in Florida to cheer the class on and act as a point of collection for the donations. The generosity that was shown by the class was extremely moving and gratifying.
The presentation of the donation took place at the 45th reunion held in Alexandria, Virginia on June 26, 2010. Marge made a moving introduction and presentation of the donation to Judy and it was accepted by Colleen Maguire, Director of Patient & Family Services, ALS Association – DC/MD/VA Chapter.
This presentation tied together the five year honoree, Judy Repass Hardesty, who was diagnosed with ALS when she was 27 years old and Judy Gordon. Judy Hardesty Repass, was there to accept her award and watch the presentation with her husband Charlie and her long time aid/health care professional.
